The original goal of Boxee was pretty admirable. The startup wanted to make it easier dell latitude e6510 battery for people to watch TV shows and other free stuff on the web without having to use a browser. Its slick software for the PC won such a loyal following that loads of geeks tried to load it on their Apple TVs. Well, now Boxee has finally released its own device called (appropriately enough) the Boxee Box. At $199, this piece of hardware is priced right in dell latitude e6410 battery between the new Apple TV and latest Roku XDS (both $99) and the $299 Logitech Revue with Google TV. The interface looks pretty polished, and there's lots of free content available for download right from your sofa using the clever dual-sided remote. However, even dell latitude e5510 battery though Boxee showed off the box and interface for the first time nearly a year ago, three major premium content partners didn't make it on board in time for launch. So does Boxee belong in your living room, and who is it really good for?
While the Logitech Revue with Google TV ships with a full keyboard and touchpad, Boxee tries dell latitude e5410 battery to keep things simple with its two-faced remote. One side of the black bar houses a D-pad, Play/Pause button, and Menu button. This layout is fairly straightforward, but we sometimes couldn't tell which end was up in a dimly lit room. The flip side has a full QWERTY keyboard, which is designed to make it easier to search for shows and other content. While dell inspiron 1440 battery the small keys provided good feedback, the fact that the keyboard isn't backlit makes it difficult to enter text in a darkened room.

In the past year, the electronics industry seems to have caught in-between fever, launching more and HP EliteBook 2730P Battery more devices that fit between existing categories. The iPad was initially positioned as something between a smart phone and a laptop and became a smash hit, while the Dell Streak really couldn't find a home between a phone and fuller size tablet. Now Barnes & Noble has brought us another tweener product. The $249 Nook Color is more than an hp elitebook 8730w battery eReader but not quite a full-fledged tablet. It's a Reader's Tablet, according to the company. What does that mean? It means a 7-inch color LCD, the Android operating system, a reading-centric UI, and a "curated" set of apps from which to choose. If you cut past the arbitrary labels and clever massaging of words, what you have is an eReader that excels at its primary purpose while offering enough extras to justify the price.
Design
The Nook Color is about the same size and general shape of the original Nook, measuring 8.1 x 5.0 x 0.48 inches to the hp elitebook 6930p battery Nook's 7.7 x 4.9 x 0.5 inches and maintaining the latter's rounded rectangular design. However, the similarities end here. The Nook Color has a more sony vgp-bps10/s battery sophisticated air, perhaps due to the graphite color, the metallic feel of the casing, or the big, beautiful screen in front. The original Nook isn't inelegant, but the Nook Color is definitely the more attractive of the two.
One of the first things we noticed is how much heavier the Lenovo thinkpad r61 battery Nook Color is than its predecessor. At 15.8 ounces, it's about 2 ounces heavier than the Galaxy Tab, which has similar dimensions (7.5 x 4.7 x 0.5 inches) but almost half as heavy as the 9.7-inch iPad (24 ounces). While this definitely made the Nook Color feel very solid, it became an issue during long reading sessions. We found ourselves switching hands more often than we normally do to alleviate wrist fatigue and much preferred to prop the eReader Lenovo thinkpad t400 battery on our body or against a nearby surface whenever possible. Thanks to the rounded edges and soft-touch back, it's at least comfortable to hold.
Only four physical buttons grace the Nook Color. On the top left edge, the power button sits Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad T410 Battery flush with the case; same with the volume buttons on the top right. Just below the 7-inch LCD display sits a metal stylized "n" that serves as the Home button. This is both a nice aesthetic touch and a fun button to press. Directly below on the bottom edge sits the microUSB port.
On the lower left corner there's a little notch that Barnes & Lenovo thinkpad t500 battery Noble calls a "nook" and admits that it serves no functional purpose, but is instead a style choice. The company sells charms users can hang from it, but it can't be used to hook a strap. This little nook also hides the device's microSD card slot, which is accessible from the back and accepts up to 32GB cards.
Talk about instant gratification: The ViewSonic DVP5 Pocket Camcorder Projector not only lets you take photos
and videos, but also lets you watch them on a bigger canvas moments after you record them. While this $329 device may not Lenovo thinkpad t61 battery be the best-performing pico projector or digital camera
, it's neat to see these two functions combined Dell inspiron 1545 battery into one.
Design
Not too surprisingly, the DVP5 is about the size of a pico projector. At 5.3 x 2.4 x 0.8 inches, Lenovo thinkpad t60 battery it's roughly the same dimensions as the 3M MPro150, and it weighs a light 6.7 ounces. However, 3M's device looks a good deal sleeker. The DV5P's burgundy top and grooved squared-off sides make it look a little clunky and dated.
The top of the DVP5 has a 2.3-inch screen that's got Lenovo thinkpad t60p battery a very low resolution of 480 x 234; even though you can take 8-megapixel photos with its camera, you won't want to look at them on the device itself. Below the display are backlit touch controls (more on that later).
The right side of the DVP5 has a focusing dial, power switch, and a plastic cover that protects the microSD card slot (the device can read cards up to 32GB). The left has a 3.5-mm AV port, and a mini USB and mini HDMI port also protected by a plastic cover. The bottom has a speaker grille, tripod mount, and the camera, Lenovo thinkpad r60 battery which is bordered in silver plastic.
ViewSonic includes a remote control, USB, and a 3.5-mm-to-composite cable. Unfortunately, there's no HDMI cable.
Despite a small speaker on the bottom, the DVP5 was loud for its size, and while not exactly IBM thinkpad r60e battery a home stereo, was at least as good as what we've heard from some netbooks.
ViewSonic says that the DVP5's battery is good for 2 hours of recording or 2 hours of projecting, and we found that it lasted almost exactly that amount of time.
The DVP5 comes with a three-year dell studio 17 battery warranty.
Verdict
With smart phones taking on the roles of GPS and point-Lenovo thinkpad x60 battery and-shoot cameras, convergence is definitely the watchword among consumer devices, so why not combine a video camera and projector into one? At $329, the ViewSonic DVP5 costs slightly less than many other pico projectors, and adds the ability to take photos and videos as well. The image quality could be better, but this multitasking gadget certainly makes it easy to share what you've captured.
It's big, bold, and beautiful. The HTC HD7 ($199) dell studio 1737 battery is the first Windows Phone
7 device on T-Mobile's network and the first 4.3-inch device running Microsoft's user-friendly new OS. This handset provides plenty of real estate IBM thinkpad X60S battery for web surfing, watching videos, and playing Xbox Live games. The integrated kickstand is also a nice perk. Then again, the WP7-powered Samsung Focus on AT&T has a superior display, and T-Mobile's lineup of Android devices is looking mighty fine these days. Read on to find out if the HD7 can really hang with the top smart phones on the dell latitude e5500 battery market.
Design
Imposing but also sleek in its own way, the 5.7-ounce HD7 dell latitude e6400 battery looks like a more refined Evo 4G (6 ounces), from the chrome trim to the silver cutouts above and below the display. Still, at 4.8 x 2.7 x 0.4 inches, there's no getting around the fact that this is a large and somewhat hefty phone, both in your hand and in your pocket. Those with smaller mitts will likely gravitate toward the Samsung Focus (4.1 ounces), which feels cheaper but is much easier to carry.
If you're going to carry around a Windows Phone 7 device that's 1.5 ounces heavier than the Samsung Focus, the extra real estate had dell latitude e6500 battery better be worth it. The good news is that even though both phones have the same resolution (800 x 480), text on web pages was slightly larger and dell latitude e4300 battery easier to read on the 4.3-inch HD7. We also appreciated that the touch keyboard layout was larger in both landscape and portrait modes, which cuts down on the number of errors.
Rotating the display activates the accelerometer, which switches from portrait to landscape mode. Sony Laptop Battery Unfortunately, the accelerometer alternates between being too sensitive and failing to change even when we shook the tablet to encourage it. When laptopbatterymag.com the display does change orientations, the screen goes black and takes as much as five seconds to finish, completely interrupting your workflow.
Even worse, when we rotated the Slate while a QuickTime movie was playing, the screen went black and we apple notebook akku were unable to even bring up the keyboard to hit the Esc key. Only putting the computer to sleep and waking it again allowed us to regain control. When we rotated the ibm notebook akku display from landscape to portrait in the middle of playing a YouTube video, the video only took a small sliver of the screen.
Sound quality was surprisingly good, both when watching hp notebook akku videos and listening to music. When streaming the bass-heavy R&B tune "Forget Me Nots" from Napster, the sound was clean and loud enough to fill a sony notebook akku room.
