The Droid Pro and Droid 2,VGP-BPS9

The Droid Pro and Droid 2 have nearly identical dimensions, but the latter weighs more VGP-BPS9 than a ounce more (4.7 vs. 6 ounces). But in addition to its larger display, the Droid 2 includes 8 GB of built-in memory and includes a built-in 8 GB VGP-BPS9/B microSD card, versus the 2 + 2 GB in the Droid Pro. Behind the easily pried-off battery cover is the microSD card slot, which is guarded by a springy plastic bumper clip VGP-BPS9A/B that's difficult to remove. However, you'll want to do this because you only get 2 GB out of the box.

By adding a QWERTY keyboard to its face, Motorola has reduced the space for a screen, VGP-BPS8A thus the 3.1-inch 480 x 320 (HVGA) TFT display is larger but has a lower resolution than on the BlackBerry Tour and Torch (2.4 inches, 480 x 360), VGP-BPS13 and 0.6 inches smaller than the 3.7-inch 854 x 480 WVGA screen on the Droid 2.

Design

In many ways, the Droid Pro is a throwback, design-wise, to the many BlackBerry black slab imitators--an elongated VGP-BPS13/Q 3.1-inch 480 x 320 HVGA touchscreen situated above a three-line QWERTY keyboard. Inserted into the silver-banded perimeter are a volume toggle VGP-BPS21A/B and the micro USB jack on the left side, an assignable function key on the right, and a screen on/off and 3.5mm headphone jack up top. Around back, the VGP-BPS21/S 5-megapixel camera/LED flash assembly forms a bit of a hump, which makes the Pro a bit thinner than its stated 0.46-inch thickness.

Keyboard

The Droid Pro's most important differentiating physical feature is its QWERTY keyboard. The tall rectangular keys are wedged, VGP-BPS21 with the wedge ridge located on the right side of each key on the left-hand side of the keyboard, and toward the left on the right side. Keys and rows VGP-BPS21A are arranged checkerboard-style rather than staggered and, even though they are jammed together, the wedge ridges help avoid accidental adjacent VGP-BPS21B key presses.

Overall, the keys are large enough that you'll likely type with more accuracy and confidence on this layout than VGP-BPS22 you would on a touchscreen-only phone. We also like that the keyboard never gets in the way of content. However, the keys felt a bit stiff, and required VGP-BPS22A more effort than we'd like to type. The humped keys on the Droid 2 are larger, staggered, and slightly easier to use, but you have to slide out the keyboard to VGP-BPS13B/S enter text, which can be a pain. And the Droid 2's layout doesn't offer as much travel. Having the keyboard always accessible can make a big difference, too, whether it's typing a quick tweet or using Android's universal search VGP-BPS13S feature.

The VAIO F is crafted from black and dark gray plastics. While this lends a sober, VGP-BPS13/S business-like style to the laptop, it also isn't what we'd call terribly premium; other machines in this price range offer metallic finishes. There is a little bit VGP-BPS13AS of flair here, such as the power button that sits in the circular hinge and glows green when the laptop is on and slowly pulses orange when asleep. Above the keyboard is a long speaker grille which subtly blends into the VAIO F's dark gray color scheme. The expansive palm rest area is delicately textured.

The VAIO F didn't get hot under the collar. After playing a Hulu video at full screen for 15 minutes, we VGP-BPS2 measured the temperature at the center of the keyboard to be 93 degrees. The touchpad returned a slightly cooler reading of 90 degrees, and the underside of the chassis VGP-BPS2A registered 89 degrees. However, once the laptop really starts to flex its muscle, fans begin to audibly pump air out of vents on the VAIO's VGP-BPS2B left side.

The VAIO F's large, comfortable keyboard is virtually identical to the previous F series model we enjoyed VGP-BPS2C before. Featuring big, black, chiclet-style keys that are similar to those found on MacBooks, the keyboard offered satisfying feedback with a nice soft pop with each stroke. VGP-BPS21A/B Another welcome feature is the backlighting. Illumination is set to adjust automatically by default, but you can also toggle brightness manually to suit your tastes.

By comparison, keys on the typical BlackBerry are spaced apart a bit in slightly VGP-BPS21/S curved rows. This approach results in speedier typing on candy bar designs such as the BlackBerry Tour, but the Torch slider phone's keyboard feels flat compared to this device. We prefer the Droid Pro for typing.

There are notebooks made for travel, and there are VGP-BPS21 notebooks made for entertainment. Sony's latest VAIO F (VPC-F136FM/B) falls in the latter camp. Boasting a high-resolution, 16.4-inch widescreen, the latest Core i7 processor, robust NVIDIA GeForce 3D graphics, and even a Blu-VGP-BPS21A ray drive, the VAIO F ($1,299 at Best Buy) offers plenty to love. Meant for users who often roam from room to room, the VAIO F provides lots of computing power VGP-BPS21B and multimedia prowess minus the size of a traditional desktop rig. Design-wise, the Sony VAIO F plays a very VGP-BPS22A conservative game. Our model's chassis sports a smooth, matte gray lid, with the only embellishment being the understated Sony branding and larger VAIO logo writ in metallic silver. Given the XPS’ history as a family of premium laptops, it’s odd that in its latest incarnation, it looks a lot like the company’s entry-level vgp-bps13b/q Inspiron series. Not that that’s a bad thing, per se. Both have a sturdy chassis ringed with a thin strip of metal, and a screen that’s planted vgp-bps13a/q closer to the keyboard, leaving more of the hinge exposed behind it.

The 2-MP webcam takes 1600 x 1200 photos and 720p video, and, in a first for notebooks, VGP-BPS9/B is Skype HD-enabled. Although our images were well-lit and sharp and our 720p video was smooth, the colors appeared faded. We like the included Dell VGP-BPS9/S Webcam Central software, though.

The XPS 14 has 2 USB ports, as well as a USB port that doubles as an eSATA port. This Windows Phone 7 device has an innovative design with a slide-out speaker

Design

The Surround weighs a hefty 5.8 ounces and measures 4.7 x 2.4 x 0.5 inches. The phone VGP-BPS9 feels well-crafted, with hard black plastic on the back and aluminum accents on the sides. Display

Still, an episode of "30 Rock" streaming over the Netflix app looked VGP-BPS2 decent on the Surround.

Audio

When slid open, the Dolby-powered speaker on the VGP-BPS2A Surround is activated. The default sound on the speaker is Dolby Mobile, but there are two other options that can be accessed by pushing a small square button on the speaker. When the button is pressed once, it enables SRS WOW HD and when pressed twice, it activates no VGP-BPS2B effects at all. Both Dolby and SRS claim to offer audio enhancements, but we surprisingly found that the "no effects" option offered the most VGP-BPS2C volume and clarity. The song "If I Ever Feel Better" by Phoenix is a danceable rock song with guitars, bass, keyboards, and drums. good battery With Dolby Mobile or SRS WOW HD, the song sounded flat and it was hard to differentiate the subtle changes of the drum beats and key changes. With no sound "enhancements," the song came alive with pulsing bass and sony battery guitar licks.

In lieu of the button on the speaker, users can also select between the Dolby Mobile, SRS, and no effects audio profiles using the HTC VGP-BPS13B/B Sound Enhancer app. There's also an Equalizer which has presets (such as bass booster, treble VGP-BPS13B/Q booster, and more) but that's only available when using headphones or external speakers.

The overall volume of the speakers was enough to fill a small room, but not "take the party to another level," as HTC claims on its website. Oddly, games were much louder than music, but when the speaker is right in front of your face, it's not necessary to blast it. While VGP-BPS13/B it doesn't have as much treble and bass, the speaker on the Samsung Focus got almost as loud for music and video.

Design

Syncing

To sync the iPad while it rests in the PadDock 10, the tablet must first be connected to your PC via the included mini-USB e6500 battery cable. Then the device can be switched into sync mode with a small button located alongside the same holding hook with the 30-pin connector. Once e5500 battery syncing is done, it's necessary to switch the PadDock 10 back into charge mode if you want to continue providing juice.

Charging

How Good is the Gaming on Windows Phone 7?

T-Mobile G2 Hands-on: What We Like, What We Don’t

What We Don’t Like

•Googleware You Can’t Delete: As Engadget pointed out in its review, the G2 comes loaded Sony VGP-BPS9/S Battery with lots of Google apps you can’t get rid of, including Places, Shopper, Earth, Sky Map, Latitude, Tracks, Finance, Listen, Translate, and Google Talk. We didn’t find these apps to negatively impact performance, but some may find them annoying.

Design

Like the Mini 5101 and 5102 before it, Sony VGP-BPS13A/B Battery the 5103 very much looks and feels like a shrunken HP ProBook, which is a compliment. HP hasn't changed the outer design much for this generation, which is mostly a good thing (with the exception of the touchpad). Heat

The island-style, spill-resistant keyboard on the Mini 5103 remains one of the best in the netbook category. Display and Audio

Mindestens 8.192 MB DDR3-1066MHz Dual Channel Memory stehen dem Prozessor bei der Arbeit zur VGP-BPS13A/B Seite. Eine Erweiterung ist auf bis zu 16.384 MB möglich. Damit der Speicherplatz auf der Festplatte nicht so akku sony VGP-BPS9/B schnell ausgeht, können im G73Jh – auf zwei Platten verteilt – bis zu ein TB Daten abgelegt werden. Solide Leistung

Der im ASUS N73 eingesetzte Intel Core i3 370M-Prozessor gehört zur Einsteigerklasse der neuen Intel Core-Serie. Die Zweikern-CPU VGP-BPS13B/B legt einen Takt von 2,4 GHz vor und wird bei der Abarbeitung speicherhungriger Prozesse von 4.096 MB DDR3-Arbeitssepeicher unterstützt. Filme lassen sich über den verbauten Multiformat-DVD-Brenner mit Double-Layer-Unterstützung abspielen oder brennen. Reichlich Platz für eine größere Multimedia-Sammlung bietet auch VGP-BPS13B/Q die im Gehäuse verbaute SATA-Festplatte mit einem Fassungsvermögen von 640 GB.

Großes Display

Die ASUS-Entwickler haben dem N73 VGP-BPS13A/S einen 17,3 Zoll großen Bildschirm mit auf den Weg gegeben. Das Display hat eine glänzende Oberfläche, die für mehr Farbbrillanz sorgt, aber bei ungünstigen Lichtverhältnissen auch zu unerwünschten Spiegelungen führen kann. Die maximal darstellbare Auflösung liegt bei 1.600 x 900 Bildpunkten. VGP-BPS13/Q Stationär kann das Bildschirmsignal wahlweise über einen VGA-Anschluss oder – in besserer Qualität – über einen HDMI-Port nach außen geführt werden. Für die Pixelplatzierung ist eine NVIDIA GeForce GT 425M-Grafikkarte zuständig. Technisch ist die dem Mittelfeld zuzuordnen. Weniger anspruchsvolle Spiele Sony VGP-BPS13 bewältigt der Grafikchip problemlos. Erst bei sehr aktuellen 3D-Games müssen die Detailstufen runtergeregelt werden, um ein unerwünschtes Ruckeln zu verhindern.

Eingeschränkte Mobilität

Die Maximalbestückung des 12.1-Zollers EliteBook 2540p ist ein Core i7-640LM (2.13 GHz). Wir haben VGP-BPS2C uns diese Variante statt des Alternativen Core i5-540M (2.53 GHz) in die Redaktion geholt. Der 540M ist kein Low Voltage Prozessor, was der Akkulaufzeit des mobilen Gerätes im Test geschadet hätte.

Die 640LM-Westmere-CPU hat nativ zwei VGP-BPS8 Kerne mit je 2.13 GHz (Standard-Takt). Der reale Takt variiert ständig zwischen diesem Standard und 2.93 GHz (Intel Turbo-Boost). Ein Core i5-520UM hat einen TDP von 18 Watt (Acer Aspire 1830T). Die Intel HD taktet mit 266-566 MHz (variabel wenn kein Turbo Boost aktiv) und VGP-BPS9A/B erreicht 1.205 3DMarks2006.

Unverständlich sind die knauserigen 2.048 MB DDR3 (PC3-10700, Hyundai) auf dem Mainboard. Der VGP-BPS9/S einzige Speicher-Slot unter der Klappe auf der Unterseite ist leer. Wir vermuten, dass die zwei Gigabyte aufgelötet sind. In dieser gehobenen Preisklasse sollte ein Speicher-Upgrade erst bei vier Gigabyte beginnen und nicht schon bei zwei.

Wie schnell rechnet der Core i7-640LM? Wir nutzen den Cinebench R10 Single (32bit) zur Analyse. Beim Rechnen mit nur einem der vier Threads (Turbo Boost bis 2.933 GHz) schafft das Testsystem 2.980 Punkte. Alle Achtung, viele unserer 15-, 17- und VGP-BPS10 18-Zoll Multimedia-Notebooks mit i7-720QM liegen auf einem identischen Niveau (z. B. Asus G51J, Dell Precision M6300). Testgeräte mit i5-520M liegen im Durchschnitt mit 3.050 Punkten geringfügig höher (z. B. Samsung NP-R580-JS03DE).

Die Erfolgsmeldungen in Sachen Low Voltage Performance setzen sich im Vergleich mit den bisher stärksten Low Voltage Core 2 Duo Prozessoren fort.VGP-BPS13A/B Ein SP9400 (2.4 GHz) dümpelt mit 2.650 Punkten dahin (Dell Latitude E4300). Ein SL9400 (1.86 GHz) schafft gerade mal 2.205 Punkte (Lenovo ThinkPad X200s). Der niedrig taktende SU9400 (1.4 GHz) ist mit seinen 1.532 Punkten weit abgeschlagen (Panasonic Toughbook CF-W8).

Der Turbo Boost des i7 treibt den 2540p in Single Core Anwendungen also zur Höchstleistung. Tritt dasselbe VGP-BPS2 bei den relevanteren Multi-Thread-Operationen ein? Wir prüfen mit dem Cinebench R10 Multi (32bit). Unser Testsystem taktet jeden Thread mit 2.3 bis 2.66 GHz und holt für sich 6.043 Punkte heraus. Jetzt rennen die im Single-Core-Test etwa gleichwertigen i7-720QM-Notebooks dem Low Voltage Modell mit 7.800 bis 10.000 Punkten davon (z. B. Toshiba Qosmio X500-10V). Auch ein i5-520M ist mit zirka 6.819 Punkten etwas besser (z. B. Dell Vostro 3500).

Selbstmitleid ist jedoch unnötig, denn der i7-640LM im 2540p ist um Längen besser als der Core i5-520UM aus der Consumer-Ecke (3.368 Punkte, Aspire 1830T). Sofern übertaktet (Asus PL30JT, Asus UL30JT) schafft der 520UM aber auch schon sony VGP-BPS2C einmal 5.225 Punkte. Auch die im Single-Thread Test überholten Schwestermodelle SP9400 (5.000 Punkte) und SL9400 (3.850 Punkte) sind abermals durch den 640LM geschlagen.

Die Low Voltage CPU im EliteBook 2540p bietet folglich eine hohe Rechengeschwindigkeit, die deutlich oberhalb der früheren Core 2 Duo Low Voltage Elite liegt. Wer vermutet, dass sich dies in einer brachialen i7-Anwendungsperformance zeigt, der hat zum Teil sogar Recht.

Der PCMark Vantage ermittelt 5.149 Punkte. Dieser Score toppt den i5-520UM (übertaktet, Asus PL30JT-RO030X, 4.536 Punkte) und schlägt das Acer Aspire 1830T-52U4G32n deutlich (nicht übertaktet, 3.950 Punkte). Selbst das schnellste SP9400-System (Dell Latitude E4300, 7.200 U/Min HDD) gibt sich mit seinen 3.732 Punkten akku geschlagen.

Die Anwendungsleistung liegt knapp auf dem Niveau von i5-430M-Notebooks mit Mittelklasse GPUs (z. B. HP ProBook 6540b WD690E). i7-720QM-Systeme liegen je nach Geschwindigkeit ihrer Festplatte bei 5.091 (Deviltech Fire DTX) oder auch bei 6.225 Punkten (MSI GX740-i7247LW7P). Die Aussage, das akku EliteBook 2540p arbeitet auf echtem Core i7-Niveau ist damit gültig, wohl aber wiederlegbar.

Es hätten noch einige Punkte mehr im PCMark Vantage werden können. Die Toshiba Festplatte (Typ MK1633GSG) mit einer Bruttokapazität von 160 GByte ist vergleichsweise langsam. Sie arbeitet zwar mit den üblichen 5.400 U/Min, aber es handelt sich um eine 1.8-Zoll microSATA HDD.

HDTune ermittelt im sequentiellen Lesen einen Durchschnittswert von 43.4 Megabyte pro Sekunde. Dieser Durchsatz liegt deutlich unter dem Durchschnitt von 2.5-Zoll Festplatten. Hieraus resultiert die niedrige HDD-Score im PCMark Vantage von 3.046 Punkten.

Die Festplatte stellt damit den größten Performance-Unterschied zwischen dem 2540p und den größeren akku EliteBooks/ProBooks 8540w und 4720s. Dort verbaut HP standardmäßig schnelldrehende 7.200 U/Min Festplatten (zirka 80 MB/s), welche tendenziell zu einer besseren Systemleistung führen (PCMark Vantage HDD-Score: 4.000 Punkte).
