Not since the introduction of the unibody MacBook Pro have we been this HP Compaq 6715B Battery excited about a notebook's design. Sure, we've seen our fair share of cool patterns, textures, and lighting effects during the past couple of years, but the ASUS U33Jc is different. Both the lid and palm rest are made with bamboo (yes, the wood), which not only gives this 13-inch notebook an elegant aesthetic, but makes it more eco-friendly than your typical plastic box. And the U33Jc is much more than a pretty face. This $999 machine ($949 street) sony battery combines a Core i3 processor with Nvidia Optimus graphics to give users a good one-two punch of performance and long battery life. The notebook can't handle the latest games as well as its predecessor, and it generates a little more heat than we'd like sony vgp-bps13/b, but overall it's a winner.

Design

Upon first looking at the U33Jc, you can't help but be impressed with its premium good battery craftsmanship and organic vibe. We love the fine grain of the smoky brown bamboo in both the lid and the palm rest, which is complemented by a more high-tech brushed aluminum deck around the keyboard. Even the touchpad and single mouse button get the bamboo treatment. Why bamboo? Not only is it one of the strongest plants on earth, it's also among the most plentiful. Of course, ASUS had to treat this wood to prevent wear and tear, a process it has been honing for the past three years. The result is a one-of-a-kind design that oozes eco-cool and also resists fingerprints, though it feels somewhat plasticy. Weighing 4.4 pounds, the U33Jc is lighter than its predecessor, the 4.8-pound U30Jc, and Sony VGP-BPS10 it's fairly portable given that the notebook features both a full-power Core i3 processor and discrete Nvidia graphics. A similarly equipped 13-inch MacBook Pro weighs 4.5 pounds. Still, other 13-inch machines weigh considerably less, including the Fujitsu Laptop Battery 3.2-pound Toshiba Portege R700. The notebook measures 12.9 x 9.3 x 1 inches, a pretty compact footprint and svelte profile given the specs.

Heat

With the exception of battery one trouble spot, the U33Jc kept its cool during our testing. After playing a Hulu video for 15 minutes at full screen, we measured temperatures of 81, 84, and 88 degrees Fahrenheit on the touchpad, between the G and H keys, and underneath the machine, respectively. However, Dell GD761 Battery the left side of the system near the vent became uncomfortable on our lap, reaching an uncomfortable 114 degrees.

Keyboard and Touchpad

We appreciated the spacious chiclet-style layout on the U33Jc, which exhibited little flex. Overall, tactile feedback was adequate; the keys felt a little mushy, but we were able to type quickly. We just wish ASUS offered a backlit keyboard.

Measuring 3 x 1.7 inches, the U33Jc's bamboo Toshiba PA3534U-1BRS touchpad was remarkably smooth, making it easy to navigate the desktop. Oddly, ASUS chose not to enable multitouch gestures, so pinch to zoom is a no-go. The narrow touch button works fine when you're just clicking an item, but keeping it held Acer Aspire One Battery down for scrolling proved a challenge. And while you can use the right edge for one-finger scrolling, it was a little too fast.

Die Anschlussanordnung empfanden wir, vorsichtig ausgedrückt, als subopotimal. Grund: Acer hat die Mehrzahl der Verbindungsmöglichkeiten im VGP-BPS9/S vorderen Bereich der beiden Seitenflächen akku Dell xps m1530 angebracht. Wer viele Kabel angesteckt hat, sieht sich schnell in seiner Bewegungsfreiheit eingeschränkt, der Einsatz einer Maus kann zum Problem werden.

Softwareausstattung und Zubehör

Wie von Acer (leider) gewohnt, wird das System des Aspire 7551G von zahlreicher Software apple akku in Beschlag genommen. Dabei handelt es sich meist jedoch nicht um halbwegs sinnvolle Anwendungen, die dem Nutzer einen gewissen Mehrwert bieten, sondern hauptsächlich um sogenannte Bloatware. Negative Folgen der aufgeblähten Installation sind eine Verminderung der Arbeitsgeschwin Akku Vostro 1310 digkeit sowie eine Erhöhung der Systemstartzeit. Da sich viele Programme zudem im Infobereich der Taskleiste einnisten, wird der Nutzer häufig mit VGP-BPS2C nervigen Einblendungen konfrontiert. Wäre das Aspire 7551G nicht mit einem entsprechenden Programm ausgestattet, käme man um den Kauf teurer Zusatzsoftware kaum herum. VGP-BPS2 Damit der Filmgenuss so richtig Freude bereitet, legt Acer dem Notebook zusätzlich eine Fernbedienung bei, mit der sich das Aspire 7551G auch bequem von der Couch bedienen lässt. Ansonsten ist der Lieferumfang eher dürftig geraten. Neben einem 90 Watt Netzteil findet der Käufer lediglich eine Kurzanleitung, VGP-BPS10 eine Garantieheft sowie einen Quick Start Guide. Auf einen Datenträger mit dem Betriebssystem hat Acer üblicherweise verzichtet.

Eingabegeräte

Tastatur

Die Tastatur hat uns insgesamt gut gefallen. Die freistehenden Tasten zeichnen sich durch ihre wohl Sony VGP-BPS13B/Q Akku dimensionierte Größe und ihren akzeptablen Druckpunkt aus. Einzig die Pfeiltasten sind vertikal extrem schmal geraten, des Weiteren könnte das linke Shift etwas breiter sein. Von der Stabilität besteht besonders am Nummernblock Nachholbedarf. Da sich unter ihm das optische Laufwerk befindet, ist bereits bei moderatem Druck ein spürbares Nachgeben feststellbar. Mithin am meisten hat uns aber das relativ laute sowie klapprige Tastengeräusch gestört, das nicht gerade einen hochwertigen dell akku Eindruck vermittelt.

Touchpad

Eine der absoluten Stärken des acer akku Aspire 7551G ist sein erstklassiges Touchpad. Die leichte Absenkung ermöglicht ein ausreichendes Maß an Orientierung, durch die recht glatte Oberfläche lässt es sich überdies extrem angenehm über das Touchpad gleiten. Die Größe überzeugt mit 90 x 50 mm ebenso auf ganzer Linie akku dell latitude e6400 wie die stets zuverlässigen Multitouchfunktionen. Die vertikale Scrollfunktion funktioniert tadellos und wurde von Acer zur besseren Erkennbarkeit mit einer weißen Linie versehen. Die beiden Touchpadtasten vereinigen sich in einer einzelnen Leiste und müssen sich akku sowohl von der Akustik als auch vom Auslöseverhalten keine Kritik gefallen lassen.

Das 17.3-zöllige Display bietet mit einer Bildschirmdiagonale von 43.94 cm genügend Raum, um Sony VGP-BPS13A/S Akku jegliche Multimediainhalte angemessen konsumieren zu können. Eine Auflösung von 1600 x 900 sorgt darüber hinaus für ausreichend Bildfläche, um beispielsweise mit zwei gleichzeitig geöffneten Fenstern zu arbeiten. Filme profitieren zudem vom 16:9 Seitenverhältnis, das die typischen schwarzen Balken reduziert.

Grundsätzlich also hervorragende Voraussetzungen, wäre da nicht die mäßige Displayqualität. Mit einer durchschnittlichen Helligkeit von 170.5 cd/m² lässt es sich zwar angenehm arbeiten, bei Spielen oder Filmen vermisst man Sony VGP-BPS13/Q Akku hingegen bald eine höhere Leuchtkraft. Überraschend schlecht fiel auch die Ausleuchtung unseres Testgerätes aus. Lediglich 126.2 cd/m² an der dunkelsten und 203.0 cd/m² an der hellsten Stelle ergeben einen enttäuschenden Wert von 62%. Subjektiv macht sich die mangelhafte Ausleuchtung immerhin kaum VGP-BPS9 bemerkbar.

Der Schwarzwert platziert sich mit 0.83 cd/m² im Mittelfeld, dunkle Areale wirken nicht ganz tiefschwarz, VGP-BPS9A/B sondern leicht gräulich. Der Kontrast ist mit 229:1 ebenfalls alles andere als überragend, die meisten aktuellen Multimedianotebooks schlagen sich in dieser Disziplin allerdings kaum besser. Die Farbdarstellung geht schließlich in Ordnung, das Bild erscheint deutlich kräftiger als beispielsweise bei einem matten Display.

Für den Outdoor-Einsatz ist das VGP-BPS13A/B Aspire 7551G denkbar ungeeignet. Acer setzt auf eine nicht entspiegelte Oberfläche, die bei entsprechender Lichteinstrahlung zu starken Reflexionen führt. Selbst beim Aufenthalt in Innenräumen wird der Nutzer des Öfteren mit nervigen Spiegelungen konfrontiert. Wer viel Zeit mit Office- oder Internetaktivitäten verbringt, sollte deshalb über die Anbringung einer Entspiegelungsfolie oder gleich über die Anschaffung eines Notebooks mit mattem akku Display nachdenken.

Ein kurzer Kommentar sei noch an die Blickwinkel gerichtet, die sich horizontal wie vertikal sehr eingeschränkt zeigen. Selbst bei kleineren Abweichungen kommt es rasch zu Verfälschungen bei Farbdarstellung und Beleuchtung. Das wird spätestens dann zum Problem, wenn man akku Dell latitude e6500 zusammen mit mehreren Kumpels einen Film betrachten möchte. Maximal eine Person bekommt den Bildschirminhalt halbwegs authentisch zu Gesicht.

However, given the quality of the products we saw at Computex 2010 this week, that could all change very soon.

T1000p Netvertible Offers Multi-touch, Small Form Factor

We’ve reviewed a few Gigabyte netvertibles, including the Gigabyte Touchnote T1028x. The T1000p continues this tradition. In addition to it’s swiveling1366 x 768 touch screen,the 10-inch Windows 7 netbook has a standard Atom N450 CPU, 250 or 320GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, akku dell latitude e6400 and Windows 7 starter.

The screen still isn’t perfect: it uses resistive touch technology. However it comes with a stylus for tapping and it seemed quite responsive in our testing. In addition, it supports multi-touch gestures like pinch-to-zoom, or drawing with two fingers in Akku Vostro 1510 Windows paint. The T1000p is expected to last up to 4 hours on a charge with its 6-cell battery.

Gigabyte M1125N Offers Power and Touch Together

In the future Gigabyte will release its M1125N tablet, which should be a huge step up from the T1000p and the netvertibles that came before Akku Vostro 1310. This device has a large, 11.6-inch screen and a powerful Core i5 procesor. It has an extremely premium look that includes a brushed metal lid similar to the one found on the M1405. Gigabyte wasn’t showing any samples, but we managed to snap a few pictures of the M1125N under glass.

Gigabyte i1520M Uses Intel’s Wireless Display Technology

The 15.6-inch i1520M has a solid look and mainstream specs like a akku Dell xps m1530 1366 x 768 screen, a Core i5 or Core i7 CPU, and a 320 or 500GB hard drive. It’s a solid family PC, but what makes it stand-out is its use of Intel’s Wireless Display (WiDi) technology. Right now, only a handful of notebooks in the U.S. have WiDi and all of those are sold through Best Buy. Does this mean that, if the i1520M were sold in the U.S., that it would have to be sold in Best Buy? We really don’t know.

Gigabyte Q1447N has Sleek Lines, Even Sleeker Hinges

Acer Aspire One 721-3574

It performs better and is more comfortable to use than a typical HP Compaq 6715B Battery netbook, but this 11.6-inch machine's poor battery life is a big strike against it.

For just a little more than the cost of an Atom-powered netbook, the Acer Aspire One 721-3574 ($429) sports a larger 11.6-inch display, a more comfortable keyboard, and a faster AMD Athlon II Neo processor

paired with ATI graphics for HD video sony battery playback. This system is also a full $170 less than a nearly identical version powered by an Intel processor. So what's not to like? The battery life is well below average, making this ultraportable not very mobile. Does the 721 have enough else going for it to overlook this one glaring weakness?

Design

Easily one of the best-looking notebooks we've seen sony vgp-bps13/b for less than $450, the Aspire One 721 measures just 1 to 1.1 inches thick and weighs Sony VGP-BPS9/S Battery a mere 2.8 pounds. We especially like the mesh black textured lid (no fingerprint smudges), which has a subtle cross-hatch pattern. The inside of the machine has a sleek gunmetal gray strip underneath the black keyboard, and the power button is made to look like spun metal. A lighter gray strip wraps around the bottom of the 721, adding to the sophisticated aesthetic.

The left side of this ultraportable houses a VGA port, power jack, HDMI, and USB. A Ethernet port, lock slot, Sony VGP-BPS9/B Battery two more USB ports, mic and headphone jacks, and a 5-in-1 memory card reader can be found on the other side.

Keyboard and Touchpad

Like other Acer notebooks, this one sports a full-size FineTip Sony VGP-BPS10 keyboard that isolates the keys slightly. Though some may find that the keys are positioned too close together, we didn't mind. During our typing sessions the keyboard offered strong tactile feedback, and we appreciated the large right Shift key and Enter key. The shrunken arrow keys were easy to locate without looking.

We'd like to see Acer follow the lead of other manufacturers and turn the function key shortcuts into direct action keys in the top row. For example, to raise the Dell GD761 Battery volume, you have to press Fn + Up Arrow, when it should just be a dedicated button.

Two vertical lines separate the relatively small touchpad from the rest of the deck. The surface had only Toshiba PA3534U-1BRS minor friction, but we found that we had to make more movements to direct the cursor due to the limited surface area. The dedicated touchpad buttons were crisp and easy to activate.

Heat

After streaming Hulu for 15 mintues, the 721 remained fairly cool, Acer Aspire One Battery reaching 91 degrees Fahrenheit on the touchpad, and 92 and 95 degrees, respectively, between the G and H keys, and 95 degrees underneath. The only part of the machine that got uncomfortable was near the vent, which registered 106 degrees.

Display, Audio, and Webcam

The Aspire One 721's display is one of the better screens we've seen in this size, an 11.6-inch panel with 1366 x 768 resolution. The picture was bright and acer aspire 9800 battery crisp when surfing the web, and an HD trailer of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows exhibited an impressive level good battery of detail, right down to the dark circles under Harry's eyes and his stubble.

Audio quality varied based on how we used the system. The twin speakers underneath the front lip of the chassis delivered plenty of volume when we listened to Green Day's "When I Come Around" on Slacker, but the sound became muffled when we used the 721 in our lap.

We weren't impressed with the 1.3-megapixel webcam on this laptop. During a Skype call battery our friend said we looked blocky and a bit blurry, though audio came through clearly.

Test HP EliteBook 2540p Subnotebook Leistung

Die Maximalbestückung des 12.1-Zollers EliteBook 2540p ist ein Core i7-640LM (2.13 GHz). Wir haben VGP-BPS2C uns diese Variante statt des Alternativen Core i5-540M (2.53 GHz) in die Redaktion geholt. Der 540M ist kein Low Voltage Prozessor, was der Akkulaufzeit des mobilen Gerätes im Test geschadet hätte.

Die 640LM-Westmere-CPU hat nativ zwei VGP-BPS8 Kerne mit je 2.13 GHz (Standard-Takt). Der reale Takt variiert ständig zwischen diesem Standard und 2.93 GHz (Intel Turbo-Boost). Der Turbo ist eine prozessorgesteuerte Übertaktung, bei der je nach Anforderung durch Single- oder Mehrkern-Anwendungen einzelne Kerne VGP-BPS8A übertaktet werden.

Das Hyper-Threading Feature des Core i7-640LM stellt vier Rechenkerne zur sony akku Verfügung, zwei davon virtuell. Anwendungen können demnach auf bis zu vier Threads zugreifen. Turbo-Boost greift natürlich auch bei den virtuellen Cores.

Der 640LM hat inklusive Speichercontroller und VGP-BPS9 Intel Graphics Media Accelerator HD einen TDP von 25 Watt. Für einen Low Voltage Prozessor erscheint das viel. Ein Core i5-520UM hat einen TDP von 18 Watt (Acer Aspire 1830T). Die Intel HD taktet mit 266-566 MHz (variabel wenn kein Turbo Boost aktiv) und VGP-BPS9A/B erreicht 1.205 3DMarks2006.

Unverständlich sind die knauserigen 2.048 MB DDR3 (PC3-10700, Hyundai) auf dem Mainboard. Der VGP-BPS9/S einzige Speicher-Slot unter der Klappe auf der Unterseite ist leer. Wir vermuten, dass die zwei Gigabyte aufgelötet sind. In dieser gehobenen Preisklasse sollte ein Speicher-Upgrade erst bei vier Gigabyte beginnen und nicht schon bei zwei.

Wie schnell rechnet der Core i7-640LM? Wir nutzen den Cinebench R10 Single (32bit) zur Analyse. Beim Rechnen mit nur einem der vier Threads (Turbo Boost bis 2.933 GHz) schafft das Testsystem 2.980 Punkte. Alle Achtung, viele unserer 15-, 17- und VGP-BPS10 18-Zoll Multimedia-Notebooks mit i7-720QM liegen auf einem identischen Niveau (z. B. Asus G51J, Dell Precision M6300). Testgeräte mit i5-520M liegen im Durchschnitt mit 3.050 Punkten geringfügig höher (z. B. Samsung NP-R580-JS03DE).

Die Erfolgsmeldungen in Sachen Low Voltage Performance setzen sich im Vergleich mit den bisher stärksten Low Voltage Core 2 Duo Prozessoren fort.VGP-BPS13A/B Ein SP9400 (2.4 GHz) dümpelt mit 2.650 Punkten dahin (Dell Latitude E4300). Ein SL9400 (1.86 GHz) schafft gerade mal 2.205 Punkte (Lenovo ThinkPad X200s). Der niedrig taktende SU9400 (1.4 GHz) ist mit seinen 1.532 Punkten weit abgeschlagen (Panasonic Toughbook CF-W8).

Der Turbo Boost des i7 treibt den 2540p in Single Core Anwendungen also zur Höchstleistung. Tritt dasselbe VGP-BPS2 bei den relevanteren Multi-Thread-Operationen ein? Wir prüfen mit dem Cinebench R10 Multi (32bit). Unser Testsystem taktet jeden Thread mit 2.3 bis 2.66 GHz und holt für sich 6.043 Punkte heraus. Jetzt rennen die im Single-Core-Test etwa gleichwertigen i7-720QM-Notebooks dem Low Voltage Modell mit 7.800 bis 10.000 Punkten davon (z. B. Toshiba Qosmio X500-10V). Auch ein i5-520M ist mit zirka 6.819 Punkten etwas besser (z. B. Dell Vostro 3500).

Selbstmitleid ist jedoch unnötig, denn der i7-640LM im 2540p ist um Längen besser als der Core i5-520UM aus der Consumer-Ecke (3.368 Punkte, Aspire 1830T). Sofern übertaktet (Asus PL30JT, Asus UL30JT) schafft der 520UM aber auch schon sony VGP-BPS2C einmal 5.225 Punkte. Auch die im Single-Thread Test überholten Schwestermodelle SP9400 (5.000 Punkte) und SL9400 (3.850 Punkte) sind abermals durch den 640LM geschlagen.

Die Low Voltage CPU im EliteBook 2540p bietet folglich eine hohe Rechengeschwindigkeit, die deutlich oberhalb der früheren Core 2 Duo Low Voltage Elite liegt. Wer vermutet, dass sich dies in einer brachialen i7-Anwendungsperformance zeigt, der hat zum Teil sogar Recht.

Der PCMark Vantage ermittelt 5.149 Punkte. Dieser Score toppt den i5-520UM (übertaktet, Asus PL30JT-RO030X, 4.536 Punkte) und schlägt das Acer Aspire 1830T-52U4G32n deutlich (nicht übertaktet, 3.950 Punkte). Selbst das schnellste SP9400-System (Dell Latitude E4300, 7.200 U/Min HDD) gibt sich mit seinen 3.732 Punkten akku geschlagen.

Die Anwendungsleistung liegt knapp auf dem Niveau von i5-430M-Notebooks mit Mittelklasse GPUs (z. B. HP ProBook 6540b WD690E). i7-720QM-Systeme liegen je nach Geschwindigkeit ihrer Festplatte bei 5.091 (Deviltech Fire DTX) oder auch bei 6.225 Punkten (MSI GX740-i7247LW7P). Die Aussage, das akku EliteBook 2540p arbeitet auf echtem Core i7-Niveau ist damit gültig, wohl aber wiederlegbar.

Es hätten noch einige Punkte mehr im PCMark Vantage werden können. Die Toshiba Festplatte (Typ MK1633GSG) mit einer Bruttokapazität von 160 GByte ist vergleichsweise langsam. Sie arbeitet zwar mit den üblichen 5.400 U/Min, aber es handelt sich um eine 1.8-Zoll microSATA HDD.

HDTune ermittelt im sequentiellen Lesen einen Durchschnittswert von 43.4 Megabyte pro Sekunde. Dieser Durchsatz liegt deutlich unter dem Durchschnitt von 2.5-Zoll Festplatten. Hieraus resultiert die niedrige HDD-Score im PCMark Vantage von 3.046 Punkten.

Die Festplatte stellt damit den größten Performance-Unterschied zwischen dem 2540p und den größeren akku EliteBooks/ProBooks 8540w und 4720s. Dort verbaut HP standardmäßig schnelldrehende 7.200 U/Min Festplatten (zirka 80 MB/s), welche tendenziell zu einer besseren Systemleistung führen (PCMark Vantage HDD-Score: 4.000 Punkte).

Toshiba Satellite T235 (Intel)

For less than 600 bucks, HP Compaq 6715B Battery doesn't get any better than this. With its lightweight chassis, long battery life, comfy keyboard, sony battery and unique style, Toshiba's Satellite T235 is one of the best consumer ultraportables yet. It's great for students or anyone else on the go. Though the T235 series is compelling in both the AMD- and Intel-powered configurations, we give the edge to the $598 Intel-based Satellite T235-S1350 because of its longer endurance and stronger wireless performance. Yes, you can get a more powerful Core i3 notebook instead of this Pentium-powered machine for around the same price, but if you care about Sony VGP-BPS9/S Battery portability it's more than worth the trade-off.

Design

At 12.7 x 8.8 x 1 inches, the Satellite T235 sony vgp-bps13/b is a lot thinner than last year's 1.4-inch thick Satellite T135. With a weight of only 3.8 Sony VGP-BPS9/B Battery pounds, the notebook is so light that we hardly noticed it when we carried both the AMD and Intel versions and their AC adapters in our bag.

Despite its sub-$600 price tag, the Toshiba Satellite

T235 looks like a more expensive notebook. Its shiny lid (available in charcoal, red, or white) Sony VGP-BPS10 has a subtle wave pattern overlaid on top of an even more subtle grid imprint. Though the glossy surface picked up fingerprints, they weren't too prominent. The thin profile, which tapers from under 0.8 inches thick on the front lip to just over an inch thick in the back, makes the system look extra-svelte. We also like that Dell GD761 Battery the keyboard inclines slightly for a more comfortable typing position.

However, the real star of the show is the chrome-colored deck, keyboard, and touchpad. While the keyboard's keys and base are both matte chrome, the palm rest and area above the keyboard have a gorgeous shiny surface with a battery slightly rough texture, which Toshiba calls a Fusion chrome finish. We'll just call it one of the best-looking Toshiba PA3534U-1BRS and most comfortable palm rests we've tested. The touchpad sports a smooth surface that continues the Fusion pattern (which some may find to be a little loud), while the two mouse buttons and front lip are a glossy, pattern-free chrome.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The Satellite T235's keyboard is one of the best we've used on any consumer notebook, even more Acer Aspire One Battery comfortable than that on the Satellite T645. The keys are generously spaced, offer strong tactile feedback, and have no flex at all. Using this keyboard, we were able to achieve a score of 92 words per minute on the Ten Thumbs Typing Test, which matches our all-time high score.

The 3.3 x 1.5-inch touchpad offered just the right amount Acer Aspire 5670 Battery of resistance, allowing us to navigate around the desktop with ease. It also supports multitouch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom. Its two discrete buttons provided good tactile feedback without feeling stiff.

Heat

A notebook of this size is likely to spend much of its life on your lap, so ambient temperature becomes even more important than acer aspire 9800 battery they would on a larger system. Fortunately, the T235 stayed incredibly cool through our testing. Even after we streamed a Hulu video at full screen for 15 minutes with the notebook on high-performance mode, we measured the touchpad, keyboard, and bottom at only 95 degrees Fahrenheit--well within comfortable good battery temperatures. Even better, we didn't detect any warm spots on the palm rest, bottom, or sides. By contrast, the AMD-powered Satellite T235D got a bit warmer, with a 97-degree touchpad and a warm spot on the left side of the palm rest.

Gaming Performance

Im folgenden musste sich das M11x R2 (Core i5-520UM) sowohl der ersten Revision des Studio XPS 16 Akku M11x (Core 2 Duo SU7300) als auch dem Asus N82JV (Core i7-620M) stellen. Ziel war es herauszufinden, ob der Prozessor einen signifikanten Einfluss auf die Spieleleistung hat oder doch stets die Grafikkarte den limitierenden Faktor darstellt.

F.E.A.R. 2

Des Horrors zweiter Teil lief mit 36.9 fps grundsätzlich auch in sehr hohen Details und 4x AA (1280 x 1024) relativ flüssig. Leider brach die Bildwiederholrate in unregelmäßigen Abständen in den Keller ein, so dass es zwischenzeitlich zu deftigen Studio 17 Akku Rucklern kam. Mit Core 2 Duo SU7300 ist die GeForce GT 335M gleich schnell unterwegs (36.8 fps), mit Core i7-620M erreicht die Nvidia-Karte hingegen 39.6 fps. In mittleren Details und 2x AA (1024 x 768) liegen M11x R2 (47.2 fps) und M11x (46.9 fps) ebenfalls sehr nahe beieinander, das Asus N82JV zieht mit 62.6 fps jedoch um 33% davon.

Mit hohen Details und 4x AA (1366 x 768) lässt sich der spektakulär inszenierte Shooter aufgrund von 30.9 fps nur eingeschränkt genießen. Studio 1737 Akku Sowohl mit Core 2 Duo SU7300 (34.7 fps), als auch mit Core i7-620M (35.6 fps) fühlt sich Modern Warfare 2 flüssiger an. Auch in mittleren Details und 2x AA (1024 x 768) reiht sich das M11x R2 mit 36.0 fps hinter seinem Vorgänger M11x (38.6 fps) und dem Asus N82JV (42.0 fps) ein.

Sehr hohe Details und 4x AF (1280 x 1024) beanspruchen die Kombination aus Core i5-520UM und Sony VGP-BPS22 Akku GeForce GT 335M über Gebühr, magere 23.5 fps genügen nicht für ein optimales Spielerlebnis. Im Verbund mit einem Core i7-620M tut sich die GeForce GT 335M ebenso schwer und kann sich anhand von 24.8 fps nur geringfügig absetzen. Mit niedrigen Details und deaktivierten Qualitätsverbesserungen (1024 x 768) sinkt der Einfluss der Grafikkarte erheblich. Da Anno 1404 sehr stark mit der Kernanzahl und dem Takt skaliert, treten nun größere Unterschiede zwischen den Prozessoren zu Tage. Mit 107.8 fps positioniert sich das Asus N82JV weit oberhalb des M11x R2 (57.8 fps) und des M11x (51.7 fps).

Der neuste Ableger der beliebten Battlefield Serie Sony VGP-BPS21A Akku zählt hardwaretechnisch zu den anspruchsvolleren Titeln. Mit hohen Details und 4x AF (1366 x 768) ist das Alienware M11x R2 hoffnungslos überfordert, 24.3 fps sprechen eine deutliche Sprache. Auf dem Asus N82JV ist mit 24.2 fps genauso wenig an einen flüssigen Spielablauf zu denken. Mittlere Details und ein Verzicht auf Qualitätsverbesserungen (1024 x 768) munden dem Alienware M11x R2 schon wesentlich besser (32.4 fps), wobei das Asus N82JV die Gefechte nochmals weicher auf den Bildschrim zaubert (35.4 fps).

Eine ungewöhnliche Erfahrung machten wir mit dem jüngsten Spross der Need for Speed Reihe. So liefen mittlere Details und 2x AA (1024 x 768) um exakt 6 fps langsamer als hohe Details und 4x AA (1366 x 768). Ob es wohl am Fenstermodus lag, den Shift bei bestimmten Auflösungen zwangsaktiviert? 29.5 fps reichen in hohen Details akku jedenfalls, um angemessen über den Asphalt zu brettern. Zum Vergleich: Mit Core 2 Duo SU7300 wächst die Performance der GeForce GT 335M minimal auf 30.2 fps.

Hohe Details und 4x AF (1366 x 768) ruckeln mit der GeForce GT 335M unspielbar, egal ob akku ein Core 2 Duo SU7300 (21.2 fps), ein Core i5-520UM (21.2 fps) oder ein Core i7-620M (23.2 fps) im Notebook steckt. Mittlere Details und 2x AF (1024 x 768) bekommen der GeForce GT 335M dagegen schon eher, wie man am Beispiel des Asus N82JV sieht, das 33.6 fps für sich verbuchen kann. M11x (29.4 fps) und M11x R2 (29.0 fps) folgen mit etwas Abstand.

Wer nicht allzu viele Ansprüche an die Bildwiederholrate stellt, kann sich in Dirt 2 auch an hohen Details und 2x AA versuchen, 26.8 fps ermittelten wir beispielsweise in der nativen Auflösung von 1366 x 768. Damit ist das Alienware M11x R2 allerdings merklich langsamer als die erste Revision, die in unserem letzten Test 33.1 fps erzielte. In mittleren Details und einer Auflösung von 1024 x 768 schrumpft der Vorsprung und das M11x R2 akku kann mit 32.4 zu 34.8 fps fast aufschließen. Gegen die 49.2 fps des Asus N82JV ziehen jedoch beide Notebooks den Kürzeren.

Zum Abschluss überprüften wir noch die Leistung mit der unangefochtenen Grafikreferenz Crysis und erlebten dabei eine Überraschung. Während das „alte“ M11x mittlere Details und eine Auflösung von 1024 x 768 noch halbwegs flüssig darzustellen weiß (34.8 fps), siedelt sich der Nachfolger M11x R2 mit 28.0 fps am Rande der Spielbarkeit an. Das Asus N82JV kann mit 43.8 fps unterdessen nur müde über die beiden Alienwares lächeln. In hohen Details vergeht jedoch auch dem Asus N82JV schnell der Spaß, 25.2 fps sind selbst für hartgesottene Zocker zu wenig. Ganz zu schweigen vom M11x (22.7 fps) und M11x R2 (22.5 fps), auf denen Crysis noch mehr ruckelt.

Nach unseren ausführlichen Spieletests lassen sich mehrere Schlussfolgerungen ziehen. Erstens kann der CPU-Einfluss in niedrigen oder mittleren Details zwar durchaus beachtlich sein, in hohen Details ist es hingegen meist nur noch bedingt von Belang, ob beim Einsatz einer Mittelklassegrafikkarte wie der GeForce GT 335M nun ein energiesparender akku Einstiegsprozessor (z.B. Core i5-520UM) oder ein hochgetakteter Highend-Bolide (z.B. Core i7-620M) im Notebook verbaut ist.

MSI GT660

MSI is out to prove that powerful gaming chops doesn't necessarily mean a large and barely Sony VGP-BPS9/S Battery portable notebook. The flashy GT660 is heavy, yes, but not so big that users won't be able to carry it in a normal laptop bag. Plus, the flashy lights outside and the Core i7 CPU inside means you won't embarrass yourself at a LAN party. You won't get the full HD experience here, but the GT660's excellent display and juiced Nvidia graphics make this $1,849 system worth a serious look.

Design

Aesthetically, there's a lot going on with the GT660. Almost too Dell GD761 Battery much. Unlike the GT725 and GT627, which lacked the audacious flair of most gaming notebooks, it seems like MSI pulled together as many cool-looking elements as they could while still keeping the GT660 below two grand. So it's got some funky cuts along the edges and a Sony VGP-BPS13A/B Battery glossy, beveled lid complete with glowing MSI logo.

Under the hood you start to notice how busy the GT600 looks. There's a mix of matte and glossy--though the Toshiba PA3534U-1BRS latter dominates--and the piano black of the display bezel and top of the deck fades into a glossy slate color, which then turns into a textured honeycomb pattern on the palm rest surrounding the touchpad.

Two speakers ringed in red sit on the left and right of the upper deck, and between them is a control deck outlined in red and chrome with touch-sensitive LEDs. Though MSI claims this element evokes a Knight Rider aesthetic, it reminded us more of Aquaman's underwear. A light tap activates each function, including enabling or disabling Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or the Windows key, and switching between power modes. There's even a button users can program to HP Compaq 6715B Battery launch an oft-used app. A shield-shaped power button sits in the center. Though we found this strip very useful, it picked up fingerprints.

No gaming notebook would be complete without glowing LED accents. The GT660 sports thin bands of orange LEDs as part of the lid design along the lower edges of the Sony VGP-BPS9/B Battery lid, and wrapped around the edge corners at the bottom of the deck. We don't like that the color doesn't quite match the red accents splashed across the keyboard and top edge, but we it was cool that we could turn the LED accents completely on or off by tapping the icon on the far right of the control Sony VGP-BPS10 deck. With the MSI LED Manager utility, you can turn each area off and on individually or all of them completely. Users can also set the LEDs to "breathe," which results in a gentle fade in and out, or to pulse along with the audio coming from your speakers. This latter feature was a lot of fun when we began playing loud, drum-driven music. Overall, it's not as comprehensive as on Alienware systems, but it's a nice touch.

This 16-inch system is portable in theory, but its 7.4-pound weight will likely keep it sitting on your desk most of the time. Still, at 15.6 x 10.6 x 2.2 inches, the system is nearly 3 pounds lighter than the Toshiba Qosmio X505, and unlike that 18-inch system,Sony PCGA-BP2V will still fit in most regular size notebook messengers or backpacks.

Keyboard and Touchpad

A pool of glossy plastic surrounds the matte, chiclet-style keys on the GT660, Sony VGP-BPL9 was a little distracting under bright lights. Since the keys aren't backlit, you won't be able to game as easily with the lights dimmed as, say, the X505. Still, we appreciate the red accents on the keys most games default to for movement--WASD, 8462, and arrows--making them easier to find.

Though the keyboard is full size and the keys Sony VGP-BPS13 are springy, we found ourselves making more typing errors than we normally do. Something about the spacing is slightly off.

MSI made some placement and size choices that we're used to seeing on netbooks, but not full-size laptops. The right Shift key is a little undersized and shifted to the left to accommodate the arrows. Plus, there's an extra backslash key between the Alt key on the left and the space bar. This made executing keyboard shortcuts harder because the Alt key Sony VGP-BPS2B Battery isn't where our fingers expect it, plus it's smaller than

normal. There's plenty of room on the deck, even with the full number pad on the right, as MSI left at least Lenovo/IBM Thinkpad R51E Battery an inch of deck around the keyboard, so we're not sure why the layout has these little issues.

The touchpad is pretty big--3.2 x 1.9 inches--but it could be even larger if the designers good battery had used more of the available space. The slightly rough touch surface and mouse button has a thick chrome outline that flows down into a chevron shape.

Under the single mouse button are status indicators for Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Battery, Sleep, and the hard drive are appreciated. Plus, our fingers kept naturally gravitating to the bottom edge of the notebook where the mouse buttons usually sit. On this battery system they're higher, which took some getting used to.

Gleich geblieben ist die spiegelnde Oberfläche des Bildschirmes, die bei ungünstigen Umgebungslichtverhältnissen für störende Reflexionen am Display sorgen kann.Akku IBM Thinkpad X60 In beschatteten Innenräumen tut dies meist nichts zur Sache, sitzt man allerdings neben einem sonnigen Fenster, so kann das für unangenehme Spiegelungen bereits ausreichen. Gamer mit Hang zu matten Displays werden allerdings Mühe haben, entsprechende Modelle überhaupt zu finden. Alternativ ist natürlich auch der Anschluss eines externen Monitors möglich, was wir mit einem Dell 2408Wfp auch getestet haben. Der HDMI Port liefert erwartungsgemäß ein einwandfreies Bild. Will man jedoch weiterhin den Sound aus den integrierten Boxen genießen, muss man das in den Audio-Optionen einstellen, da standardmäßig die Audiodaten über das HDMI-Kabel mit übertragen werden.

Die stabilen Blickwinkel fallen insgesamt etwas größer aus als beim HD+ Display.Lenovo V100 Akku So verzeiht der Bildschirm auch geringfügige Abweichungen im vertikalen Bereich. Entlang der horizontalen Sichtachse sind auch flachere Blickwinkel möglich. Limitierender Faktor ist hier in erster Linie das Auftreten von Spiegelungen bei zu flachen Blickwinkeln.

Leistung

iPads Nearly Outsold Macs in Third Quarter, Both Selling Like Hotcakes

Neben dem Prozessor arbeiten im Inneren des Gerätes die integrierte Intel GMA 3150-Grafikeinheit, die einen Kerntakt von 200 MHz bietet, eine 160 GByte Festplatte aus dem Hause Seagate (ST9160314AS) und 1 GByte DDR2-6400-Hauptspeicher von Kingston. Der Arbeitsspeicher lässt sich durch eine Abdeckung an der Unterseite sehr leicht austauschen, aber der Zugang zum 2,5-Zoll-Laufwerk ist nur eine Demontage des Gehäuses akku dell d630 möglich. Ob diese Konfiguration mit Windows XP als Betriebssystem ein gutes Bild abgibt, haben wir anhand mehrerer Benchmarks überprüft. Die synthetischen 3D-Spielenbenchmarks von Futuremark bestätigen eine ausreichende Officeleistung, aber für aktuelle Spieletitel genügt akku dell m1530 diese nicht. Einfache 3D-Spiele lassen sich aber durchaus spielen. Ein Beispiel wäre hier das beliebte TrackMania Nations Forever, das bei geringer Detailstufe und Auflösung flüssig läuft. Unter 3DMark 06 erreicht der Eee PC nur 156 Punkte und liegt im Bereich des Dell Mini 1012 oder des Eee PC 1008P.

Das gesamte System wird von einem kleinen Lüfter gekühlt. Dieser arbeitet größtenteils recht leise und stört nicht. Neben dem kleinen Lüfter findet sich im Inneren ein Kühlkörper aus Kupfer, der die Wärmeabfuhr verbessert. Insgesamt können die Werte überzeugen, aber der kleine Luftauslass an der linken Seite des Gerätes erzeugt im Inneren einen Luftstau, wodurch akku t61 die Temperaturen in diesem Bereich leicht erhöht sind. Unter Last sind es in diesem Bereich rund 34.1 Grad Celsius. Dieser Wert ist nicht bedenklich, aber man spürt die Erwärmung am Gehäuse.

Lautsprecher

Die Lautsprecher des Asus Eee PC R101 befinden sich an der vorderen Unterseite des Gehäuses und bieten nur durchschnittlichen Klang. Wie so t61p oft vermissen wir die tiefen Töne sowie Bässe, wobei die hohen Töne sehr präsent sind. Abhilfe bringt in akku diesem Bereich nur der integrierte Audio-Conntector über den sich Kopfhörer oder externe Lautsprecher anschließen lassen.

Test Alienware M11x R2 Subnotebook

Mini-Gamer 2.0. Alienware, bisher eher bekannt durch seine großen Luxusgamer, Studio XPS 16 Akku hat die Notebookbranche vor einigen Monaten mit dem leistungsstarken Subnotebook M11x überrascht. Nun präsentiert der Hersteller das dezent erneuerte M11x R2, das sich vornehmlich durch eine Modernisierung des Prozessors auszeichnet.

Wie von Alienware gewohnt, lässt sich Studio 17 Akku das M11x R2 in vielfältiger Weise an die eigenen Bedürfnisse anpassen. Angefangen bei der Farbe, bei der mit „Stealth Black“ (Schwarz) und „Lunar Shadow“ (Silber) zwei Varianten zur Verfügung stehen. Als Prozessor findet ein stromsparender Prozessor der aktuellen Core iX Reihe Verwendung. Dabei handelt es sich entweder um den Core i5-520UM mit 1.066 GHz und 3 MByte L3-Cache oder um den Core i7-640UM mit 1.20 GHz und 4 MByte L3-Cache.

Die Arbeitsspeichermenge reicht demgegenüber von zwei bis zu acht GByte DDR3-RAM, wobei acht GByte mit einem Aufpreis von mehr als 450 Euro Studio 1737 Akku unverhältnismäßig teuer sind. Bei der Festplatte hat der Käufer die Qual der Wahl zwischen einer 250 bis 500 GByte umfassenden HDD (7200 U/Min) oder einer 256 GByte großen und wesentlich flotteren SSD, die allerdings mit einem deftigen Aufpreis von über 500 Euro zu Buche schlägt.

Ein Wlanmodul ist indes Sony VGP-BPS22 Akku standardmäßig integriert, Bluetooth kostet hingegen extra. Da das M11x R2 kein eigenes optisches Laufwerk besitzt, bietet Alienware für knapp 70 Euro ein externes Laufwerk an (8x DVD+/-RW) an. Windows 7 verrichtet unterdessen als Betriebssystem seinen Dienst, der Käufer muss sich nur zwischen der 64bit Version von Home Premium oder Ultimate entscheiden. Die Garantiezeit beträgt schließlich – je nach Geldbeutel – ein bis maximal vier Jahre. Einzig beim 11.6-zölligen Display (1366 x 768) und bei der Grafikkarte hat der Käufer keine Einflussmöglichkeiten. Mit der GeForce GT 335M hat sich Alienware für ein Mittelklassemodell von Nvidia entschieden.

Unser Testgerät mit Core i5-520UM, vier GByte DDR3-RAM, Windows 7 Home Premium, Bluetooth und 256 GByte SSD kam zum Sony VGP-BPS21A Akku Zeitpunkt des Artikels auf üppige 1633 Euro. Wer auf eine SSD verzichten kann und im Gegenzug beispielsweise auf eine 500 GByte HDD setzt, landet bei immerhin 1200 Euro. Doch egal für welche Ausstattung man sich im Endeffekt entscheidet, eine ähnliche Konfiguration der ersten Revision ist stets deutlich günstiger. Ausstattung

Anschlussausstattung

Da sich, mit Ausnahme der akku Anschlussausstattung, nichts am Chassis geändert hat, haben wir auf eine Erörterung der Kategorien Gehäuse und Eingabegeräte verzichtet. Konsultieren Sie bei Interesse einfach unseren ersten Test zum Alienware M11x.

Größtenteils kann das M11x R2 mit denselben Anschlüssen wie die erste Revision aufwarten. So akku befinden sich auf der rechten Seite zwei Soundausgänge, ein Soundeingang sowie zwei USB 2.0-Ports. Im vorderen Bereich der linken Seite sitzen ein Kartenleser sowie ein Firewire-Anschluss. Zudem verfügt die linke Seite wieder über ein Kensington Lock sowie einen dritten USB 2.0-Port. HDMI und Displayport sind im Vergleich zum Vorgänger nach hinten gewandert, der Fast-Ethernet-Port hingegen (leider) nach vorne. Einziger wirklich gravierender Unterschied: Auf einen VGA-Ausgang hat Alienware diesmal verzichtet. Zwar verfügen alle aktuellen Monitore mindestens über DVI (mit Adapter zu HDMI kompatibel), nichtsdestotrotz ist diese Sparmaßnahme etwas unverständlich.

Softwareausstattung und Zubehör

Mit dem umfangreichen Zubehör akku (Mauspad, ledergebundenes Handbuch & Kappe) seiner größeren Brüder M15x und M17x kann das M11x nicht ganz mithalten, dennoch bekommt der Käufer mehr geboten als bei der Konkurrenz üblich ist. So findet sich in der schick designten Kartonage neben dem benötigten 90 Watt Netzteil noch ein Handbuch, eine schwarze und ungemein weiche Samtschutzhülle sowie ein Datenträger mit dem Betriebssystem. Den zeitraubenden Brennvorgang der Recovery-DVDs kann man sich erfreulicherweise sparen.

Softwareseitig hält sich Alienware angenehm zurück, die Systeminstallation kommt ohne nervige Bloatware aus. Dreh- und Angelpunkt akku bildet dabei das sogenannte Command Center. Mithilfe einer übersichtlichen und einfach zu bedienenden Oberfläche lassen sich die Beleuchtungselemente anpassen (AlienFX), die Energiesparpläne modifizieren (Alien Fusion), das Touchpad konfigurieren (Alien Touch) und die Sicherheitseinstellungen ändern (Alien Sense).

Test Asus Eee PC R101 Netbook(2)

Ausstattung

Mager fällt die Anschlussausstattung des Asus Eee PC R101 aus, da auf einige Ports akku dell 6400 verzichtet wurde. An der linken Seite erwarten uns ein USB-2.0-Port, der VGA-Ausgang und ein 3-in-1-Kartenleser, der SD-, SDHC- und MMC-Speichermedien lesen und beschreiben kann. Des weiteren finden sich dort der Stromanschluss und ein kleiner Luftauslass für warme Abluft.

Gegenüber finden sich eine weitere USB-Schnittstelle, ein Kensington Lock, der RJ-45-Netzwerkanschluss und ein Audio-Connector, der Kopfhörerausgang und Mikrofoneingang in einem Port kombiniert. Die Vorder- sowie akku dell d630 Rückseite ist, wie üblich, frei von Schnittstellen. Stattdessen finden sich zwei Stereo-Lautsprecher beziehungsweise ein kleine 3-Zellen-Akku mit 23 Wh an diesen Positionen.

Die Aufteilung der einzelnen Ports ist Asus gut gelungen, wobei Platz für weitere Schnittstellen vorhanden wäre. Zwei USB-Schnittstellen sind bei einem Preis von 249 Euro zwar gerechtfertigt, aber einen dritten USB-Port hätten wir uns gewünscht. Der Audio-Connector kann uns auch nicht vollkommen akku dell inspiron 1520 überzeugen, da nur wenige Headsets diese Schnittstelle unterstützen.

Kommunikation

Die Kommunikationsmöglichkeiten sind eingeschränkt. Neben akku dell d620 dem üblichen Gigabit-Ethernet (Atheros AR8132) ist nur ein WLAN-Controller nach 802.11b/g (Atheros AR2427) integriert. Dieser ist nicht auf neustem Stand und ein allfälliges Bluetooth- sowie UMTS-Modul müssten durch einen USB-Dongle ergänzt werden.

Lieferumfang

Der Lieferumfang umfasst nur das Nötigste. Neben dem Netbook findet sich das schlanke Netzteil mit Netzkabel, eine kurze Bedienungsanleitung, die Garantiekarte und ein 3-Zellen-Akku mit einer Kapazität akku dell m1530 von 23 Wh. Auf kleine Beigaben legen wir bei diesem Einsteiger-Gerät keinen Wert, da diese den Preis unnötig ni die Höhe treiben würden.

Eingabegeräte

Asus bietet für den Eee PC R101 keine Chiclet-Tastatur an, aber das ist auch gar nicht nötig. Die integrierte Tastatur bietet ein sehr angenehmes Layout mit einer Tastengröße von 15 x 15 Millimetern. Der Druckpunkt sowie Hub sind in Ordnung und die Fn-Funktionen der Tastatur sind in akku thinkpad r60 Hellblau hervorgehoben. Ein weiterer Vorteil ist die große rechte Shift-Taste, wodurch Tippfehler vermieden werden.

Touchpad

Das Touchpad fällt bei diesem Netbook leider recht klein aus und bietet eine Diagonale von 7,2 Zentimetern. Der Unterschied in der Bedienung zum neuen Asus Eee PC 1015P fällt deutlich aus. Das Touchpad ist klar von der Handballenauflage getrennt und bietet dank angerauter Oberfläche eine gute Haptik. Trotz Windows XP als Betriebssystem werden diverse Multi-Touch-Gesten unterstützt, akku r61 die sich ohne Probleme anwenden lassen. Die Maustasten unter dem Touchpad sind elegant versteckt und bieten ebenfalls einen angenehmen Druckpunkt.

Display

Klassenprimus?Ein Gerät mit mattem Bildschirm, der auch überzeugen kann, für 249 Euro? Ja, Asus bietet in den neuen Modellen akku t61 nun ein verbessertes Panel an, das bei einer Größe von 10,1 Zoll (25,1 Zentimeter Diagonale) eine Auflösung von 1024 x 600 Pixel bietet. Der Bildschirm ermöglicht unter Windows XP zudem eine interpolierte Auflösung von maximal 1600 x 900 Pixel. Leider bietet Asus dieses Panel nicht als HD-Variante mit einer nativen Auflösung von 1366 x 768 Pixeln an.

Die integrierte LED-Hintergrundbeleuchtung ermöglicht t61p eine gleichmäßige Ausleuchtung der gesamte Fläche, wobei diese bei unserem Testgerät bei hohen 94 Prozent liegt. Ein weiterer Vorteil ist die Helligkeit der Anzeige. Im mittleren Bereich konnten wir maximal 312 cd/m² messen und der Durchschnitt liegt bei sehr guten 304 cd/m². Diese Werte sind sehr außergewöhnlich für ein Netbook, noch dazu in dieser Preisklasse.

Der Kontrast der Anzeige liegt durch einen niedrigen Schwarzwert von 0,34 cd/m² mit 918:1 auch im Spitzenfeld unserer akku x60 Testgeräte. Die von uns gemessenen Werte bieten beste Voraussetzungen für einen idealen Outdoor-Gebrauch, selbst bei starker Sonne.

Die aktuelle Hitzewelle macht dem Display nichts aus. Die hohe Helligkeit sowie Kontrast setzen sich durch und das Bild bleibt auch bei direkter Sonneneinstrahlung standhaft. Der Inhalt wird klar dargestellt und Spiegelungen sind dank matter Oberfläche nicht zu beklagen.

Die Blickwinkelstabilität kann dann leider nur teilweise überzeugen. Der horizontale Bereich akku ist bis zirka 165 Grad sehr stabil und das Bild wird scharf und ohne Farbverfälschungen angezeigt. Im vertikalen Bereich macht nur eine Bewegung zum geschlossenen Zustand hin Probleme. Das Bild wird schnell unlesbar und es entsteht der Eindruck eines Negativs. Insgesamt bekommt man bei diesem Gerät allerdings einen brillanten Bildschirm mit ausgezeichneten Werten und großem Nutzen für vergleichsweise kleines Geld.

Sony VAIO W Series Eco Edition

It’s green, but does it cost too much green? With the VAIO W Eco Edition Sony Dell GD761 Battery seeks to stand out with a design that’s partially made of reprocessed plastic from CDs, as well as a carrying case made of recycled PET bottles. The keyboard, at 86 percent of full size, feels somewhat cramped. And while we like the HD display and the bundled Kidzui browser that’s designed to keep kids safe, parents may think twice about paying an $80 premium (or more) over competing netbooks for Sony’s latest mini-notebook. The $480 VAIO W Eco Edition dell battery offers style, eco-friendliness, good performance, and a robust software bundle, but it’s not the best value. Read on to see how this netbook stacks up to the competition.

Design

The rounded edges of the Toshiba PA3534U-1BRS 10.5 x 7.1 x 2.0-inch Sony VAIO W remind us of the Samsung N130’s pebble-like design. The white, matte lid eschews fingerprints and includes a large but tasteful embedded chrome VAIO logo. This color allowed every mark to be immediately apparent, and we wished for something a bit darker to hide scuff marks. Sony offers two other color choices for the non-Eco Edition, but environmentalists will have to live with Sugar White for now. Under the lid, the deck has a dimpled pattern and a tasteful sea HP Compaq 6715B Battery green color that meshed well with the silver metallic keyboard. We also like the green interlocking loop pattern on the silver touchpad.

The six-cell battery juts out from the bottom of the VAIO W a full three quarters of an inch,Sony VGP-BPS9/S Battery which gives the netbook a useful forward incline but also a noticeable thickness in the back. Though it’s not as svelte as some of our favorite netbooks, it weighs the standard 2.8 pounds.

Greenness

As the name implies, the VAIO W Eco Edition Sony VGP-BPS9/B Battery has a few more environmentally friendly aspects than most netbooks. The chassis is made from 20 percent recycled CDs. There’s no cardboard packaging to throw out when you buy this netbook—it comes in a carrying case made from recycled PET bottles. However, we would have liked to see the green theme extended to the software package, with Sony making it easy for users to monitor and adjust how much energy the VAIO W uses (similar to Toshiba’s eco Utility).

Charging the battery Goog Battery after it was fully drained took 3 hours and 45 minutes. During this time the VAIO W used an average of 31.3 watts. Owing to its relatively Sony VGP-BPS10 short battery life (6:42), this netbook’s LAPTOP Battery Efficiency Rating was 17.5. While that score is equal to the category average, it’s worse than most other Pine Trail netbooks we’ve tested. The Dell Inspiron Mini 10, for example, has an Efficiency Rating of 10.4. Still, the VAIO W boasts an EPEAT Gold rating of 21 out of 27, which is quite good.

Heat

The VAIO W kept its cool during our heat test. Sony VGP-BPL9 After streaming a Hulu video for 15 minutes, we measured the temperature on the touchpad at 82 degrees Fahrenheit; the space between the G and H keys reached 87 degrees; and the middle of the underside rose to 96 degrees. Though the underside’s temperature is right at the cusp of our “acceptable” threshold (below 100 degrees), we were never uncomfortable using the VAIO W on our lap.

Gateway ID49C07u

Gateway's ID series is proof that a company can make a budget notebook that looks and performs above its price. The ID49C07u, the 14-inch model in this line, costs $679, but has innovative styling, including a unique glowing touchpad. It Dell GD761 Battery also has enough muscle to satisfy its target audience. While it's not perfect, dell battery this laptop has the features and performance shoppers are looking for plus a little panache.

Design

Both the lid and the deck of the ID49C07u is an aluminum alloy that not only gives the system a premium look, but will better protect it from occasional bumps. The bezel is a matte black, and, like the rest of the exterior, does not show fingerprints. The ID is a relatively sleek 13.5 x 9.6 x 0.9-1 inches, and at 4.8 pounds, Toshiba PA3534U-1BRS is slightly lighter than the Dell Inspiron 14R (5 pounds) and the Toshiba Satellite E205 (5.2 pounds).

Keyboard

The ID's keyboard uses the same FineTip design that's now ubiquitous on all HP Compaq 6715B Battery Acer and Gateway notebooks. Like the deck, it's also a silver color. The letters and numbers are black, but the font is very thin, making it a little difficult to see; we'd prefer something a little bolder. While we'd prefer a little more travel in the keys, they were nice and large, and easy to press. However, there was a bit of flex in the deck.

To the right of the keyboard are volume controls; above them is Gateway's new social networking button, which, when pressed, opens an app that provides quick access to Facebook, YouTube, and Flickr. We'd be more impressed if we could add links to other social networking sites, such as Twitter.

Above and to the left of the keyboard Sony VGP-BPS9/S Battery are two buttons, one, a customizable quick-launch button for your favorite app; the other activates the notebook's Wi-Fi. On the right are touch buttons for media controls, and for opening the DVD drive.

Glowing Touchpad

The ID's Alps-powered touchpad is the most visually distinctive aspect of the notebook. It's set slightly lower than the rest of the deck, and is trimmed in chrome. When you put more than two fingers on the pad, it glows bluish-white, which is a neat effect, but may prove distracting to touch typists who are focusing on the screen. You can Sony VGP-BPS9/B Battery deactivate this feature, too, but we wish that you could customize when it activates.

Similar to Apple laptops and some HP systems, the Gateway's Sony VGP-BPS10 mouse buttons are built into the 3.4 x 2.3-inch touchpad itself, and are designated by two small horizontal lines. While the look is nice, the buttons require you to push them down much further than Apple's or HP's, and the action felt floppy, for lack of a better word. The ID49C07u's touchpad kind of reminds us of the SurePress screen on the first-generation BlackBerry Storm--a little too much give.

In an effort to avoid the multitouch issues that have been plaguing Dell and HP touchpads with integrated buttons, you can't initiate Sony VGP-BPL9 gestures in the button areas on the ID's touchpad. However, this means the good battery effective area for gestures is much smaller, making it more difficult to actually perform them.
